Repeat Offender

I'm sure these shorts look familiar.  I featured these K-mart bad boys a few posts back in, It's a tribal thing.  Lately the heat has been sweltering in NYC and I thought what better way to beat the heat than to wear shorts.  So here they are again.

Fierce Spotlight: Kimberly Nichole

Aside from having a voice that can blow you out of the water, Kimberly Nichole also happens to have an incredible sense of style. Her pop infused with rock sound is what first caught my ear. Leading me to buy her CD entitled the, Yellow Brick Journey. This rock ballerina as she calls herself, has a look that is both eclectic and fun. Her recent wardrobe spottings have included bold prints, sequins and a ballerina tutu. Quite a mix but she pulls it off quite lovely. For more updates and information on this fierce diva visit kimberlynichole.com. When your done with that be sure to jump inside to view a few of her looks and a video of Miss thang putting down the vocals on her single “Disconnected”

Photo Magic

Greetings my fierce beauties.  As mentioned in a few posts back, I had the opportunity to participate in a photoshoot with amazing photographer Melissa Blemur. I promised you guys that I'd share with you the ending results.  Well the wait is over.  The pictures are finally in.

On that warm and beautiful Saturday morning Melissa and I took to the streets of NYC's meatpacking district and created photo magic.  Everything seemed to flow so effortlessly.  Each location seemed to have its own personality and oddly matched each outfit.  Melissa jokingly gives thanks to the photo Gods after walking upon this butterfly planted on a neighboring restaurants door.  Take a  peek below to see what we cooked up.

Birthday Boy

Dressed in all H&M everything, (well except the G-shock watch) my brother Jeremiah rang in his twenty-first birthday with a day and night on the town.  He chose a casual look for  his adventures  through the city and I think it did him justice.  He enjoyed his day with his girlfriend, friends and myself.  We munched on bbq wings, laughed, took pictures and hung from the chandelier.  Ok maybe not that last part, but we had fun.  Happy Birthday Jeremiah.

Spotlight: The Killer Whale

Pictured from left to right: Janelle Heatley, Jaylene Clark, and Hollis Heath
Although this blog is dedicated to showcasing beauty trends and personal style, I can't help but to sing to the mountain tops about the talents of four young ladies.  Janelle Heatley, Jaylene Clark, Hollis Heath and Chyann Sapp (not pictured)  are the creative forces and players behind the thought provoking theatrical production, Renaissance in the Belly of a Killer Whale.  The story delves into issues ranging from gentrification within Harlem to the all out love affair with Harlem. The ladies showcase their talents through a mixture of song, dance (yes Ms. Clark is doing a mean dougie LOL) and spoken word poetry.  I've had the chance to view this play twice and was amazed each time.  The ladies will begin their second round of shows at the Time Square Arts Center in New York City, beginning July 17th and will run until August 16th.  If your find yourself in the New York City area during these times please do yourself a favor and go see this production.  If not, talk about it, tweet it and scream to the heavens about it because it's just that damn good.  For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.HarlemKWProject.com

Hangin' on the stoop

Last Thursday I took a stab at the colored jeans trend.  I threw on my pale pink jeans (hope you can make out the color) and paired it with this v-neck top and standout necklace.  What do you guys think?
