Dinner with Curlfriends

This Tuesday I joined a few curly girls for the Dinner with Curlfriends event hosted by natural hair website Kinky Curly Coily Me (KCCM).  KCCM author and founder, Jenell Stewart, coordinated a night filled with dinner, drinks, games and giveaways for naturals and natural interests in an effort to create a environment of learning and a little fun for those with waves kinks and coils.  Laughs and good conversation were shared as attendees chatted it up about ....what else, hair.  Transitioners, newly and long naturals were also treated to a quick hair workshop from representatives from Design Essentials.  Each lady walked away with a goodie bag that included some hair goods from Curls, Design Essentials, Simply Smooth and Ampro.  If your in the New York City area  and you missed this event do not fret.   KCCM will be hosting more Dinner with Curlfriends soirees in the near future.  To find out more about these upcoming events please visit the KCCM meetup page here:  Kinky Curly Coily Me Meetup Group

Black Girls Run in style

Last Night I made my way over to Phyto Universe to help celebrate the three year anniversary of Black Girls Run (BGR).  The organization was founded by Toni Carey and Ashley Hicks with the hopes of creating a support system for female runners of all levels.  Since its birth in 2009,  BGR has set out on a mission to make health and fitness a top priority for African American Woman.  Both ladies have created a movement that is responsible for over fifty running groups across the U.S.

Carey and Hicks were both in attendance for the festivities and looked very chic making their rounds.  Carey dazzled in a denim top and polka dot skirt while Hicks shined in a bright cocktail dress. Along with few snaps of the stars of the night I was also able to sneak some shots of a few party goers who I thought were beyond chic.

Easy going

An easy going day calls for a easy going outfit.  I paired together my recent thrifted denim shirt and my peach colored midi skirt and since this weather is playing tricks on us I finished the look off with my white jacket.  What did you guys wear today?

That good ole Brooklyn Swag

Last week I had a chance to hang out with my little bro Jeremiah.  In between our chatter and gut busting laughter I managed to get a few quick shots of him and his outfit.  I thought he looked nothing but super cool.  Check him out and an inspired look below.

You again

Yes it's the blue denim again.  I can't seem to tear myself away from these jeans.  So much so its safe to say that these jeans are almost becoming like a uniform.  This time around I decided to pair my colored denim with my thrifted red blazer and my leopard heels for a color blocked look.  I was bitten with a bug of inspiration after viewing Alissa's, of Stylish CurvesRed and Blue post.  Gotta love blogger inspiration.

Peplum Fever

Sometime last week I dropped into TJ Maxx to do my usual browsing.  While there I bumped into a peplum colorblocked dress.  Without hesistation I sped off to the fitting room to try on this cute Alice + Olivia number.  Although it was a little tight on me I  fell in love with the idea of adding a peplum dress or skirt to my wardrobe in the near future.  Go inside to take a peek at the peplum that started it all
