Skin: The Basics

Who hasn’t been down the road of those ugly embarassing face breakouts?  I know I have.  With sensitive skin like mines I try my best to keep my regimen simple in an effort to keep those “what happened to your face” comments from ruining my day.   My concrete go to’s for the past few months have been Trader Joes face wash with tea tree oil, Witch hazel and Trader Joes enrich moisturizer. Sounds pretty plain I know but these products get the job done and it’s cheap.  Definitely not knocking the fancy smancy products in the department stores because this ol girl has ventured  off on the wild side a time or two and experimented with serums and anti aging creams.  But for the most part  these bad boys have been my staples.  What are your skin care staples?

  1. Wow! You've got quite a regimen. I've always wondered how African black soap would work for me. Maybe I should try that.

  4. I may change my cleanser on occasion, but St. Ives Apricot Scrub is a staple and well as cocoa butter to moisturize. I really want to try Alba Botanicals products.

  5. DOVE (white) das it! Wait, maybe a little oil for moisturizing. But I should really be more responsible and get some moisturizer with sunscreen. I like simple and easy. I am going to give Trader Joe a try. I am not knocking the fancy stuff either, but I would rather by Polaroid film with my cash LOL. NICE POST. I love it when I learn something new from blogs.

  6. Hello fellow BLMGirl!

I'm a fan of Trader Joe's. I'm actually looking into trying a different moisturizer. I may look into. Also, I like using Witch Hazel. It works somewhat for my pores, I don't see a tremendous benefit from using it(other than it cleans my face & helps with my oily skin).

  7. I use Neurtrogena products as a cleanser, Oil of Olay moisturizer and witchhazel as a toner. Nothing expensive and it has worked better now that I'm paying daily attention to my face. I'm thinking about switching to Cetaphil products when I use up everything I currently have. No product junkie here. Wish we had a Trader Joe's :(

  8. I've never tried TJ face products. That might be next...let me go pin them. :-) I use the Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion and Peel kit twice a week and when I'm not using that, I use the Sigma Cleaning & Polishing Tool (comparable to the Mia Clarisonic). I also use a detox mask that I love as well as Netrogena Oil Free Acne Wash and black soap on occasion. Thank you for this post! I've been slacking on my regimen lately, I needed this reminder!

  10. I love this post, great review... sometimes a girl just needs something that won't cost a bomb and gets the job done!
I'm a big fan of simples products, I love that theyre not laced with artificial fragrance and found that theyre just good easy products that work
