Spotlight: The Killer Whale

Pictured from left to right: Janelle Heatley, Jaylene Clark, and Hollis Heath
Although this blog is dedicated to showcasing beauty trends and personal style, I can't help but to sing to the mountain tops about the talents of four young ladies.  Janelle Heatley, Jaylene Clark, Hollis Heath and Chyann Sapp (not pictured)  are the creative forces and players behind the thought provoking theatrical production, Renaissance in the Belly of a Killer Whale.  The story delves into issues ranging from gentrification within Harlem to the all out love affair with Harlem. The ladies showcase their talents through a mixture of song, dance (yes Ms. Clark is doing a mean dougie LOL) and spoken word poetry.  I've had the chance to view this play twice and was amazed each time.  The ladies will begin their second round of shows at the Time Square Arts Center in New York City, beginning July 17th and will run until August 16th.  If your find yourself in the New York City area during these times please do yourself a favor and go see this production.  If not, talk about it, tweet it and scream to the heavens about it because it's just that damn good.  For more information and to purchase tickets, visit

  2. I wish I were in New York to check them out especially since it's in part about gentrification, a topic that I'm finding very interesting ever since half of downtown Toronto's been torn apart to build condos. Hopefully next time. All the best luck to them!
