Zombie Collection

Hot off the beauty presses.  Ricky's NYC and Mattese Elite present their brand spanking new nail polish line, The Zombie Collection.  The collection of six muted colors debuted in  stores this week.  Although I am a vibrant hue kind of girl I was surprised at how these pale tones stood strong on their own.  During a quick visit to Ricky's  I sampled the colors and I have to say Dead Punk Rocker, Decaying Green and Living Dead are my picks for this line.  But if you like you can take a closer look for yourself by visiting the  Ricky's website.

Last Chance at Floral

Hey Beautiful people just a quick post to show you my new thrifted floral skirt I nabbed from the Goodwill.  I got a chance to wear it before the weather turned for the worst this week.  Seriously did it just get cold all of a sudden?  So much for that transitional weather.  Ohh and check me out with my first puff hairdo.  Eeeek I'm loving it.  LOL

Solange: New York Fashion Week

With New York Fashion Week still dancing on, its quite the norm to spot the hottest celebrities and socialites stationed front row at runway shows.  This year I've been following Fashion Week coverage much closely and have spotted the lovely songstress Solange Knowles at a few shows.  Knowles's outfit choices have been winning in my book.  Her looks have been bold, electrifying and fresh.  Rocking her fearless fro she is owning every piece of fabric with pizzazz.  Go inside to take a closer look.

WetnWild: Everyday Look

No need to break the bank when creating great makeup looks.  With cost friendly palettes like wet n wild's "vanity", you can tap into your inner makeup artist  and start beating your face away.  To create my soft bronzy every day look I started out with one of my favorite must haves, urban decay primer as a base for my eyes.  After I applied the base from lid to brow (a little goes a long way) I then applied the golds and browns from the palette.  For the finished look I added two coats of Maybelline's Stiletto Lash mascara to my lashes.

Fashion's Night Out

The sidewalks of New York were all a buzz last night with the celebration of Fashion’s Night Out. The Fashion Week kickoff brought swarms of fashion enthusiasts out to play in the loads of festivities. I was one of the many who participated and my first stop was Macy’s Herald Square. I dropped in to see Designer, Rachel Roy and New York Knicks Forward, Amar’e Stoudemire (Yes he‘s fine). If you haven’t heard both Roy and Stoudemire joined forces to create a new collection of women’s casual wear for Rachel Roy‘s line. The collection is described as a "courtside apparel for the fashion-forward female”.





There were trendsetters in every nook and cranny but I only managed to get a quick shot of two very stylish ladies



 Only because my feet were killing me, my next and final stop was Lord & Taylor. As with Macy’s, Lord & Taylor had many celebrity and designer appearances.  Solange Knowles was among that list. Knowles put it down on the ones and twos as she brought the crowd to their knees with a bit of old school Prince and Whitney Houston. It was good times all around.

The Black Leather Jacket Project

Last Friday, I bolted out of my apartment like an olympic sprinter and made my way to the Columbus Circle train station as fast as I could.  I was in a mad dash as I was running late for the lovely Antaya McKenzie’s first fashion show, The Black Leather Jacket Project.  The twenty something Brooklyn born fashion fanatic, who also happens to be my cousin, has been talking about her debut spring preview of young upcoming designers for almost eternity.  “I cannot be late”, I whispered to myself as I boarded the A train.  Thirty minutes and one panhandler later I somehow make it to the rooftop venue right in the nick of time.  Before heading to my seat I ventured over to the bar area to devour the most delicious mini cupcakes that ever existed (Not kidding.  I think I inhaled about five of those bad boys.) and then downed a glass of moscato.  Ok now it's Showtime!

The show opens with designer,  Denise Gray.  Gray showcased a collection that was feminine yet edgy filled with blazers and bold printed bottoms.  The line combined practicality with a fresh look for the everyday woman looking to stay comfortable and fabulous.   Next up was  Chris Willis of Smiles Tees, a collection of t-shirts, tanks and sweatshirts.  Willis designs are not your average basics as he brilliantly combines art with touches of fashion.  Up next was  Kathy Rosa.  Rosa’s collection is fused with muted tones and textured pieces.  It left me feeling  very romantic.  Last to hit the runway was Ashley Padmore.  There was definitely something for every lady in this collection.  Leather, flared trousers, full skirts and bold prints were all present here. Padmore collection gave off sexiness with class. 

Amongst the crowd taking in all this new raw talent were shade and accessories designers twins Coco & Breezy, Rae Holiday of Stuff Fly People Like and Hia York of New Taste Magazine.  I was of course super proud of  McKenzie for pulling off such an amazing show but I also couldn't help but to feel inspired.  I walked away from this experience taking a very important life lesson with me.  No matter how big or small your dreams are get out there and just do it.   Mistakes will be made but that kiddos is life.   Embrace life and live out your dreams to the fullest.  As for McKenzie she's continuing her love affair with fashion and plans on doing a show for next year.  Meanwhile you can follow her and her antics on twitter at @antaya_joyce.

Next Big Thing

I wanna be...
